Istanbul was one of the cities that we had pointed out on the map for a long time. This mega city, divided between Europe and Asia by the Bosphorus Strait, has been one of the cities where luxury tourism has grown the most in recent years. On our visit to the capital of Turkey, it was clear to us that we wanted to stay in the modern area of the European part: the Taksim area, where most of the best and best luxury hotels in Istanbul are located. And there was no better option than staying at the Ritz-Carlton Istanbul.
Elegance, luxury, modernity and comfort are the adjectives that describe this luxurious hotel. It is located in the Taksim area, right in front of the XXX Mosque, with incredible views of the Bosphorus. The hotel is a luxurious xx storey building, visible from the entire shore of the Bosphorus. In addition, it is located right next to the stadium of Besiktas, one of the city’s football teams. From the room we had unbeatable views of the countryside. Staying there during a soccer game must be a dream of any of the team’s fans! In addition, its perfect and central location will allow you to establish a ‘base camp’ during your visit to the city, and to be able to walk around at night before returning to the hotel.
As soon as you arrive at the hotel, you recognize the Ritz-Carlton seal of quality, one of the most luxurious and prestigious hotel chains in the world. A plaza leads into the hotel’s large lobby, decorated in an elegant and modern style, recognizable throughout the hotel. In the same lobby you will already find several luxury clothing and jewelry stores, showing the majesty of the building, next to and next to a corridor with a large window with incredible views of the Bosphorus will give you access to them. At the end you will find one of the hotel’s restaurants, where breakfast is served every day. And in the background to the right, two of its restaurants: a modern cafeteria, and the well-known Nobu Istanbul restaurant.
Our room was on the 20th floor, which ensured us a breathtaking view that we realized as soon as we entered. The room was a spacious suite with a unique and elegant design. Next to the huge double bed there was a desk in case you need to work, and a comfortable sofa. The bathroom was very spacious, with all the usual Riz-Carlton amenities, and with a bathtub and shower, so you can choose. But the best thing about the room, without a doubt, were its views. A huge window gave you a huge panoramic view of the city: a privileged view of the Besiktas stadium, the XXX mosque, the entire width of the Bosphorus, and the Asian part of the city on the other side. Impressive! And to top it off, before going to sleep you could enjoy this wonder illuminated at night, there is no better view to end the day!
In the mornings we would go down to breakfast at the hotel restaurant, and we would start the day with the same views that we ended it with: the Bosphorus in its morning glow. Breakfast was also Ritz-Carlton brand of quality: a wide variety with the opportunity to try some of the typical Turkish dishes, such as ZZZ or YYY. In addition, a detail that we found incredible was that at the entrance of the restaurant, which has sofas and armchairs to enjoy the city, there is a piano which at certain times of the day you can listen to an artist playing some chords. Enjoying beautiful Istanbul with Bach in the background was an incredibly magical moment!
Another of the great points that we highlight about the hotel is its incredible rooftop. Although it is located halfway up the building, its large number of floors also guarantee incredible views. And it is that yes, we do not stop repeating that the views are incredible, but it is like that: wherever you are, on any floor, you will enjoy views of the dream city. The rooftop, known as the Rooftop Aurora Bar, has a very large chill-out area with a bar included with armchairs, sofas, hammocks … to be able to enjoy very comfortably some cocktails at sunset with the sun setting over the Bosphorus. In addition, one of the stars of the rooftop is its incredible pool: an impressive infinity pool with which you can have Istanbul at your feet. From there you can contemplate the views of the entire city. We bathe during the Golden hour and it is one of the best memories we have of the trip, priceless!
The Ritz-Carlton Istanbul also has a huge spa. And when I say huge, it’s huge: an impressive x-meter pool, with a built-in Jacuzzi. In addition, you can have hammocks and all the amenities you want to enjoy the pleasant temperature of the spa. It also has several saunas, of different temperatures and types, and massage rooms. Super recommended!
